Knjaževac, April 9, 2025 – Knjaževac became richer for the Center for Energy Consulting, a new public service intended for all citizens and small entrepreneurs who want to save energy, reduce their bills and improve living and working conditions.

The center will provide free advice on energy efficiency, investment opportunities in renewable energy sources, information on subsidies and other ways of financing these investments, as well as examples of good practice that citizens and entrepreneurs can emulate in improving their own energy habits.

“The opening of the Energy Consulting Center represents an important step towards improving the quality of life of our fellow citizens. By providing relevant information and advice, we enable citizens and businesses to use energy more efficiently, reduce their costs or even generate new income,” said Milan Đokić, Mayor of the Municipality of Knjaževac.  The center, within its own office space, will be run by the Public Enterprise for Development, Urban Planning and Construction of the Municipality of Knjaževac, and as the director, Mladen Radosavljević, pointed out, “the center will be open for individual conversations, group discussions on various topics and counseling on monitoring consumption and energy needs, participation in public tenders for the allocation of subsidies, from materials and methods of thermal insulation of buildings to proper planning and sizing of solar power plants and collectors. Our goal is that everyone, regardless of financial status, gets access to knowledge that will help them to improve living conditions and improve their businesses.”

opening of the center was made official by holding a round table with local partners, at which representatives of institutions, public companies, organizations and businesses were invited to join the common mission of the center and participate in the dissemination of knowledge in their field of activity.

Energy efficiency should become a higher priority for everyone. That’s why we need an Energy Advisory Center that communicates with all members of the local community, not only with subsidy beneficiaries. Investing in the extended scope of the center, so not only financial but also advisory assistance, brings a greater return in the form of a greater number of fellow citizens who have a better quality of life and an understanding of their needs“, said Daniela Kostadinova, expert advisor on the project “Promotion of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency in Serbia”, which is implemented by  GIZ. She added that: “the functioning of the center is conceived as part of a wider mosaic, in which the center is a gathering place for various actors and a facilitator of support in the development of a new energy culture“. The center is open to all residents of Knjaževac, regardless of whether they have just started thinking about energy efficiency or are already active in this area.

The establishment of the Energy Consulting Center in Knjaževac was supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in cooperation with the Regional Development Agency of Eastern Serbia (RARIS). The project is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
